Inspired by the textures and transformation seen in nature Catherine Gutsche's abstract paintings are vibrant and eye-catching. Through layers of colour and free brushstrokes she captures the energy of her subject. By scraping away sections of paint the history of the piece is revealed, reminiscent of the layers of sedimentary rock that makes up Ontario's geology.
